The AC Condenser Cycle
Air conditioning condensers play an important role in cooling your home. In Chapel Hill, air conditioning replacements are recommended when the condenser has experienced extensive wear. The condenser is responsible for cooling the vapors after taking them from the compressor. It is shaped like a coil and allows the liquid that flows from the compressor to travel through the condenser’s coils, allowing heat from the hot liquid’s heat to escape through the fins of the condenser. Once the liquid gets to the end of the coils, it is much cooler and is still pressurized. Next, the fluid flows through a valve, turning into a mist. After it leaves the condenser and flows into the evaporator, the liquid becomes a gas. During the evaporation process, the heat in the air surrounding the coils gets cooled by the condenser, and the AC’s fan blows the cool air out. The fan does not make the air cooler, but simply aids in the transfer of heat within the coil to mix with surrounding air. Less heat is located in the refrigerant from this process, and the cooler refrigerant returns to the system again to pick up more heat to start the cycle again.
Condenser Problems
In Chapel Hill, an air conditioning replacement becomes necessary when your system is much older and completely shuts down. This is sometimes the result of corroded evaporator coils in aging AC units. Usually, refrigerant will leak out as a result of this problem. A fan motor is a vital component that could malfunction. Dirt or debris can collect on the coils, leading to the overheating of the air conditioner, since the coils cannot remove heat as efficiently. If the fins of the condenser become bent, they will not be able to send out heat effectively, leading to damage to the system.
Maintenance of the Condenser
An annual inspection and tune-up is recommended for air conditioning units to keep them running at maximum efficiency. If it becomes apparent that your AC unit is not working in Chapel Hill, an air conditioning replacement is recommended.
